Search engines like Google, for instance, have different ways of confirming that you are the owner of a given domain and one of them is in fact by creating a TXT record with unique text which they provide and which you need to use as the record value. The same verification method is used by some analytics platforms that keep track of the traffic to your web sites as well. However, in this case the content of the record will be read by a robot, but it will still be in human-readable form. A TXT record is furthermore employed if you activated the so-called SPF protection for your email addresses in order to protect them from being forged. In this case, the record contains data showing that a particular electronic message is sent from a dependable and authorized mail server. You may use a TXT record for any kind of other information also, just like your company details, for instance.
